My birthday was over the weekend. My dear friend made this great cake. So yummy!

Happy Monday! We had the garage sale on Saturday - not as much traffic as I had hoped for - but it was a beautiful day and we did get rid of sell quiet a few things. Then we packed up the little stuff that was left and donated it to Goodwill. I listed a couple of the bigger furniture pieces (armoire, chair, file cabinet) that didn't sell on Craigslist for this week. We made great progress in the great garage clean up!
I am taking a pause in the office area to face a monster lurking in our house. Yes, the dreaded garage clean out! When we moved everything that didn't have a place or was just stuff we wanted to get rid of landed in the garage.
A few years back, Mr. Traditionally Modern (the nicest man on earth! lucky me) had us start eating cage free eggs. They are really so much better. We now refer to them as "Happy Chicken Eggs". This is what was in my refrigerator when I went to make breakfast this morning. The egg had actually cracked into a smile.
Hope you all had a great weekend. The weather was fabulous here in Atlanta and we had a big Sunday lunch on our screen porch. I finished stenciling the wall.....a little crooked! Ugh But I love it over all. I am thinking I am going to have to redo it. Mr. Traditionally Modern's advice was to go ahead and hang the shelves and then decide - smart man. What do you think?
The week is flying by! It is Thursday and I realized I didn't post anything yesterday. But, I am can achieve my goal of posting at least 3 times a week. I am still hard at work on the office area. I went to Hobby Lobby (for the first time ever!) Monday and bought a wall stencil. This is my first attempt at stenciling a whole wall. I am inspired by Kristen (I stalk read her blog everyday) her work is fantastic. Here are a few pictures of my wall in progress
The weekend in the mountains was great! We all enjoyed hiking the Joyce Kilmer National Forest - largest trees on the east coast. It was much needed rest and family time. I was inspired to stay home it is pouring rain this week and really work on the house it . I painted the file cabinet - white won in the paint color war. I am still debating maybe doing the drawer fronts dark or a color - what do you think?

One of the first things I need for the office area is file storage. It will get boxes out of that area and things off the floor. I needed at least 2 drawers and wanted something with a built in look. So I went to see Scott at officefurnitureconcierge.com who helped Mr. Modern Design with his office. It is like the ultimate hunt to go through his warehouses full of every office item you can imagine. It is a great resource for furniture pieces in general - not just for the office. I found two of these modern clean lined cabinets
Happy Day! So, we moved in mid-August and things are starting to fall into place - meaning some of the boxes are getting unpacked. The first room I need to get done is what I call "the command center". It is the mudroom, office & laundry room area. First and foremost is getting the office area in some sort of order. So, I am loving my new blog look! Do you dig the orange - my newest favorite color. I am new to the blog world and I am addicted. We just moved into our newly renovated house in mid-August and I am still trying to get boxes unpacked and organized. I can't wait to start decorating! Of course I know just how it will look all in my head......so join in and watch the progress. First up is my office/mudroom area. Stop in tomorrow for the before shots and my list of things to do!
