Back To Reality
We had such an awesome ski trip to Montana. The kids went back to school today and spring has sprung in Atlanta. It makes me want to "lighten" everything up. I am contemplating my bookshelves in our family room. I feel like all of my accessories are too heavy and dark. Here is how they look now.
I feel like they need more color (and look at that sad mantel - needs a little dressing up!). One of the things I am working with is that they are pretty deep shelves. I don't want to cover the back because I love the wood planking. I am thinking about wrapping some books in pretty paper (think color blocking). Also, maybe painting a few things. Trying to work with what I have. What are you up to today?

I love that planking. I have similar planking at the back of my bookcases. I am actually thinking of painting the back of the bookcases (planking) a color. Have you thought of that? You would probably need to add a bit of picture molding to the outside so that the shelves are framed. Just a thought.
I love that display space! I also love the wood planking and wouldn't want to cover it up. It looks really nice painted white! I love the idea of covering some of the books! I did a little bit of spring cleaning today. (Long overdue window washing- fun stuff!) :)
Your fireplace looks great with the wood planking. I agree with Linda (MCHL), maybe you can add some color on the back of the bookcases?
