Master Bedroom Update

I have been working on my master bedroom.  One of the big expensive things on the list for that room was the need for a rug.  We have hardwood floors, which are beautiful, but really needed a rug to warm things up.  Here is a picture before.

Once again I scored while doing a little craigslist shopping.  I found this beautiful wool rug.  It is just the style I had been pinning on Pinterest  It is 100% wool, 10 x 13 and was less than $150!

I will have better shots later in the week.  I sent it out to be cleaned.  Now, to finish the rest of the list.....

I Brought Home Two Ghosts

I wrote about ghost chairs last week.  I have been wanting to use one somewhere in my house.  I think they are such a great example of traditional meets modern.  I was at Ikea buying a mirror last week and decided to go for it.  They are such great quality and the price was right.   Here they are at our banquette.

You can hardly see them - right?  Oh so ghost like.  They passed the most important approval test - the kids (very opinionated should have heard the feedback when I bought a new toaster! whew).  Looks like they are keepers.

OOHHH It Is A Ghost

I have been pondering ghost chairs lately.  I am thinking of using them at our banquet.  They look traditional with with a modern edge.  I like the way they might contrast against the wood of our table.  Here are a few examples.

I love the arms, but they wouldn't work at our table

They come in colors - muted and bright.  I am liking the clear.

They are all so great and a bit pricey.  But, Ikea has a great option for just $79.99 - worth checking out.

So, what do you think of ghost chairs?

Maskros Embellishment

It was such a grey rainy day here yesterday that I didn't want to leave the house.  I finally took the time to do a little embellishment to the maskros light in Collette's room.  I wrote about her room here.

I had been meaning to cover the little end pieces of the "flower" on the light.  It always bothered me that it was off white and didn't really go with the true white of the fixture.  I bought some bling mirrored disc at Michaels and broke out the liquid nails.  Here it is before.

Here it is after.  Not a huge change, but just the right finishing touch.

Enjoy your day!

Craigslist Find

Everyday I read Capella's blog.  My favorite is on Thursdays when she highlights the best of Craigslist - Atlanta.  Last week she had a great pair of orange chairs on her post.   I went and looked at them, but they were too small.   But, that gave me the inspiration to keep shopping CL.   I found a listing for a hotel liquidator with tons of furniture and some great looking chairs.  So, I ventured out yesterday and look at what came home with me.

I plan to have them reupholstered, but they are in great shape!  Do you ever shop Craigslist?  Had any luck?  Hope you all have a great Thursday.

Update Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  It was nice to have yesterday off and just hang out with the kids!  Just a couple of updates.

I wrote about making a mask on Friday. We bought a plain black mask and a few feathers.

We got out the hot glue gun and ended up looking quite handsome if I do say so!

A good time was had by all.......

I never made it to Scotts on Friday, but read all about it here on Sherry's blog - thanks! It looked like a good one.

The barn door should be installed this week - pictures to follow.

I Spy With My Little Eye on Thursday....

It was a typical Thursday for me.  Running errands and kids from here to there.  I had to go to Target to stock up on things like tissues and toilet paper - not too exciting.  But, then I found myself wondering into the home furnishings area just to take a peek and wow! look at a few of the things I found.  Great for freshening up for spring.

My other errand was to Party city.  My son had a sweet 16 party to go to Saturday and the theme is  "Parisian Masquerade".  I was on the hunt for a mask.

They were all too girlie.  So, we ended up with this with a plain black mask and some feathers.  Will let you know how it turns out Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

Great Find!

I am so excited, first because I was on stand by for jury duty yesterday and didn't have to go!! Woo Hoo!! (jumping for joy)  Second I scored at Ballard Designs.  Since I was on standby I had nothing on my calendar for yesterday.  I called late Tuesday night and found out I was excused, so Wednesday was wide open!  I know many of you are familiar with Ballard Designs.  Their catalog probably lands in your mailbox or inbox on a regular basis.

We are lucky enough in Atlanta to have two Ballard's outlet stores (Ballard's Backroom).  The bigger of the stores is a little further away, but since my calendar was clear and Mr. TMD is out of town I grabbed a coffee and headed out. You never know what they will have, or what shape it will be in, but there are some real bargains to be had.

I have been on the hunt for a narrow console type table for our family room and as luck would have it I found one.  It was $100 less than the other ones just like it because it is missing the glass for the shelves.  They all needed a little paint.  The price was already great and then it was was another 30% off!  So, I loaded it up and brought it home.

Here she is.  I plan to do a little spray painting and am thinking it will look better with antiqued mirror shelves instead of the clear glass they had.  Stay tuned.

Eye Candy Wednesday

Welcome to my new series - Eye Candy Wednesday.   I think Wednesday being the middle of the week it is a great time to take a little break and gear up for the rest of the week.  Sometimes you just need a little eye candy.  Something beautiful to rest your eyes on and feast.

Bedroom - A Little Switcharoo

I continue to contemplate headboards. I am starting to think about just having one made. I did do a little furniture moving and picture hanging over the weekend.

These chairs were in front of the window before.

I moved them to the wall opposite the bed, on either side of the armoire.  I hung beautiful original oils by a Georgia artist, Stephanie Wheeler, above them.

I am liking this new arrangement - thoughts? I plan to put a writing desk in front of the window.  Luckily, Scotts antique market is this weekend in Atlanta - a fun spot to look for just the right one.

Bar Carts

I was browsing online Saturday with my cup of coffee and bar carts seemed to keep popping up.  I don't have one, but have always thought they were so glam and viva la' 50's/60's.  I love the industrial look like this one

Or this has the same vibe only more sleek

more fun

But then I started thinking it would be great to use one on our screen porch and I started shopping options at School Outfitters.  All very industrial at great price points. Here are a few.

And my favorite - digging the orange wheels.

Bedroom Inspirations

I have been on Pinterest pulling images of bedrooms for inspiration.  Here are a couple of headboards that I am liking.

This headboard is Serena & Lilly.  I love it for the height.  I can't decide if I should go with a color or stay safe neutral?  How fun is this orange one below (and those great little stools)?

I will continue to ponder.......
Have a great weekend!

It Is All Happening In The Bedroom....

I have so much I want to do to the house in 2012, but one of my priorities is to get our master bedroom done.  We moved in August and I haven't really done much except order blinds.  Here is how it looks right now.

It is a great room with good light and lots of space.  It is really a blank canvas.  The furniture has to stay, as much as I would like something with lighter wood.  I have a long list of wants, but my first focus is a headboard and rug.  Here is the dream list.

Padded headboard
Rug
New Linens
Desk & Chair
Maybe a bookcase or two
Curtains
Accessories!!!

Stay tuned for this ongoing project.....

Belly Up To The Bar.....

I posted about ordering new bar stools here before the holidays.  My stools came just a few days before Christmas.  They required a little assembly - took no time.

And here they are today.  They have a cool industrial vibe.  We are loving them and I would definitely order from School Outfitters again.
